| "Since we last visited this venue a few months ago, a sound limiter has been installed which is very sensitive. Due to the position of the traffic light indicator on the wall, it was quite difficult to see once our disco was set up as it was to the right of us and slightly behind where we'd been told to set up. This meant that the visual monitoring was tricky to see and unfortunately, the limiter cut the power. The staff present had NO CLUE whatsoever about the limiter, how long it would be off for, whether it could be re-set manually etc, etc. Eventually the bar man agreed to phone his manager who allegedly said "the power will re-set automatically within 5 minutes"! This was NOT THE CASE - the power was cut for OVER AN HOUR before it came back on, which is totally unacceptable. It appears that there is a problem with this limiter which needs to be looked at which is what we suggested to the staff. After about 30 minutes, the staff agreed that I could connect my laptop to their in-house speaker system, which is located in their alcohol storage cupboard, so that I could at least play some music to the guests, although several had left. I asked to bypass the sound limiter system after about 45 minutes just so I could try and salvage the party and reluctantly, the staff agreed I could plug my equipment in via the power in the kitchen. However, they insisted that the volume of the music was to be kept to an absolute minimum and were very rude, using profanities, suggesting that we'd broken their system!!! " | |
